Yabba Dabba Doo! A stop in Bedrock City

**Now Closed** Unfortunately, Bedrock City is closed now.

After pulling into what looked like a deserted parking lot, my suspicion levels rose quickly, but I pushed those thoughts aside as we entered a building that looked a little sketchier than I would have liked.  Some of the souvenirs looked like they were there about 15 years too long, but we continued anyways.

Our five dollars each was paid and we went out back to the bright Bedrock City, home of The Flintstones.

At first it was a little creepy because I couldn’t see anyone else there and an episode of The Flintstones was playing loudly over a speaker somewhere.  Soon I got over this and it turned out to be pretty fun.  It was the whole city, so we got to see Fred and Wilma’s house, Dino, the police station, the post office, the grocery store, Barney’s house, and all kinds of other stuff.

Each place had a few things in them, like furniture in the houses, food in the store, a jail cell in the jail, and salon things in the salon.  They definitely weren’t fully furnished though, so it also looked a little weird.  Most of the stuff was movable though, which made for some fun pictures too.

They had a fancy globe and state of the art TV in the school and at one of the houses.  There were people from the show all over and they all looked pretty happy to be there.  A volcano stood off to the side and a snake tube was in the middle.  A dinosaur slide made a pretty solid park for everyone to enjoy.

I even got to meet Fred himself.  We’re practically best friends now and we’re taking the world by storm!  Well, not really, but hey, things could be worse!  Overall, Bedrock was a fun stop that I would suggest after a trip to the Grand Canyon.  It’s a good stop on the way to Flagstaff, especially if you have kids along, but two 23 year-olds managed to have fun as well.

Tips for visiting Bedrock City:

  • If you’re going from the south rim of the Grand Canyon to Flagstaff, this is a fun stop along the way.
  • Entrance, as of summer 2015, was only $5.
  • There isn’t a whole lot to do here other than to wander through the buildings, but it was surprisingly fun.
  • There is a little, creepy gift shop that you go through to get into Bedrock.  This is where you pay and I feel like there was food in there, too, but I don’t remember for sure.
  • Bedrock City is just outside of Williams, Arizona.

Have you been to Bedrock?  What did you think of it?

  1. This looks and sounds like such a cool. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon several times, but have never stopped here before. You have convinced me that the next time I’m in the area, I’m stopping! 😉

  2. I am so sad this is now closed. It was going to be one of our stops on our criss country trip. Is everything gone from there or can you still see it or walk around?
