40 Photos Of Death Valley That Will Convince You To Plan A Trip There Right Now
I liked Death Valley, but I almost think I like it more just looking back at it? I enjoyed it when I was there but I also felt underwhelmed by it? It’s weird. But I think of it more fondly now than I did there.
Is there anywhere you just felt OK about while you were there but like more looking back at it? I will say, I think it’s just because of looking back at my pictures.
I love them and just wanted to share a bunch of them today for no reason other than I like them. Like my Saguaro photo post, I’ll talk a little about each picture in the caption below it.
There aren’t as many pictures in this one but I do love them all and they really do make me want to go back and spend a lot more time there.

We stayed at Stovepipe Wells and even got a dune view room but they had a screen thing over the window so you couldn’t even see out of it 🙃The glowing hills of Zabriske Point not long before sunset. It was so quiet here, I was afraid to talk at all!The other side of Zabriske Point. This was my favorite stop in Death Valley. 10/10 would recommend, especially for sunset.I love seeing little critter tracks in the sand. And the waves on dunes from wind so both together was pretty great.I wasn’t sure what to expect for the Artist’s Palette since the Internet usually over saturates it. I liked it but it’s absolutely not as bold as most people make it look. Just another wonderful view of Zabriske Point.More critter tracks and different sand waves One of the salt formations up super close at the Devils Golf Course. They’re pretty sharp and very fragile, so try not to walk on them too much.I loved looking for the best crystals on the salt flats at Badwater Basin. We didn’t even get to the best part! The rock wall behind the Badwater Basin parking area has a sign marking where sea level is 282 feet above you. Can you see the sign?A little pond and part of the boardwalk at Badwater BasinThe Devils Golf Course with mountains behind it. I liked this view a lot!I have no idea where this was. It’s either from the side of the Artist’s Drive or the very south part of Badwater Road. Anyone else know?We drove Badwater Road from the bottom up and this was just along the side of the road not far from that south entrance and we saw almost no one else down there!I LOVED this stop. The little grasses on the white sand with the dark hill is just perfection. I want to embroider this, actually!Remnants of the Ashford Mill, the farthest stop down Badwater Road. It was so quiet, it’s wild.I don’t know why, but I never associated mountains with Death Valley. Turns out, there’s a lot of them.This is what I thought all of Death Valley was even though I knew it had other things like the salt flats, the Racetrack, and the Artist’s Palette. Like, what? Why did I think that?Just another picture of Zabriske Point because I love it so much. Seriously, don’t skip this.You can see the trail taking you into the Artis’s Palette area here and some little tiny people in the middle! Can you spot the people?Just a little bit of the Artist’s Drive not far before the actual Artist’s Palette. I really enjoyed this little one-way drive.I don’t remember this picture but I like it a lot! I think this one is from the Artist’s Drive. I love it.What? More Zabriske Point? You got it!Another shot from the Mesquite Sand Dunes. I didn’t hike much here because we had a lot of driving that day but I love seeing the mountains behind them.A different view of Zabriske Point. Have you had enough of it yet?Another view of the Devil’s Golf Course. There isn’t a hiking trail here but you can sort of walk around them near the parking area.Another view from the really south part of Badwater Road. This area was so pretty, I liked it a lot. You should definitely drive all the way down Badwater Road.Just another picture of the white sand and grass I love so much.Who knew Death Valley was like, a valley?I. LOVE. THIS. PICTURE. SO. MUCH.The salt flats at the end of the main trail. They looked pretty good but if you keep walking further down the smaller trail, they get even better!The Devil’s Golf Course from a different angle, looking down Badwater Road instead of across.The first peek of the Artist’s Palette was pretty exciting but I was worried there wasn’t a place to get close to it. There is. Just keep going around the corner.The Devil’s Golf Course got it’s name because only the devil could play golf on a surface like this. I think I would like to embroider this somehow too. I love it.We pulled over (in a pull out) and had a little picnic lunch in the car on our drive up Badwater Road.I think this is mountains on the side of the road on the bottom part of Badwater Road between the south entrance and the Ashford Mill.I think the ground here looks like one of those crazy 27 layer cakes they have to make on the Great British Baking Show.What!? More Zabriske Point?Again!? This is my favorite Zabriske Point picture. I love the weird hilly ground but it’s like, hills at an angle? And the light? It’s just perfect.

Awesome! It was on my list for this year but has been pushed off to Thanksgiving week earliest! Hopefully I can get there then, or maybe sometime over winter!
If you mean Scottys Castle, I believe it is! We didn’t get up there but the website says it’s closed because of a flood, and later fire, but can be visited on specific tours.
