Ok, so maybe episode isn’t the right word since this isn’t a show, but this will be some kind of (On Film) series of an indeterminate length, different projects and cameras throughout, and this is the first episode!
These were taken on a Pentax k1000 with a film that I am unsure of, though I do enjoy the results! I’m not anywhere close to being an expert or professional with any photography, but definitely not with film.
I put the film in the camera, I take the pictures, I hope for the best. Obviously I’ll be learning as I go throughout this series, but it’s mostly just for fun. Art science.
These pictures were taken from 2020 (I think? maybe 2018 or 2019 even) to 2024, in Utah, Arizona, and Wyoming.
Since I don’t know what I’m doing with film, I’m open to any tips or tricks, and film suggestions. I didn’t know until recently that there are tons of different types of films that give different results. I’ve always just thought “film.”
I hope you enjoy this post and idea for this series because I’ll have more after this next trip we’re about to take! I’ll have a few different projects/series coming from that though and I’m so excited for them!

Do you do film photography? What kind of camera and film do you like? How long have you been doing it? Have you wanted to try it if you haven’t yet?

Hmm…what is this “film” of which you speak? :):) I love how the pics look like they’re from the 1970s!
Cool idea for a project!
Hahah, thank you! It’s been fun using the older cameras and I can’t wait to see how everything turns out!
What a wonderful collection of film photographs! There’s something special about the timeless feel that film brings to landscapes, and these shots capture the beauty of the American West perfectly. I especially enjoyed the images from Yellowstone, Zion, and the Grand Canyon—the colors and textures look incredible. I also appreciate your honest approach to learning film photography and simply enjoying the creative process. Thank you for sharing these inspiring photos and your journey with film photography. I’m looking forward to seeing future installments of this series and watching your film adventures continue!
Thank you! I have quite a few more that I’m super excited to share over the next few months!
