Ranger Talk With Steve Phan

Welcome back to another Ranger Talk! This week we’ve got Steve from Camp Nelson National Monument. There’s a lot of love for the smaller historic parks in here, which is awesome, and even more love for Grand Teton (three in a row!) My goal with this is to hopefully help people that want to work in the parks in the future get an idea of … Continue reading Ranger Talk With Steve Phan

New River Gorge National Park is the newest national park and you can find it pretty much in the middle of West Virginia and we got to visit not too long before the change.

If it isn’t already on your national park bucket list, it should be because it’s pretty cool!

7 Reasons Biscayne National Park Is Worth It

Biscayne national park is an underwater gem of a national park just outside of Miami, Florida, not far from it’s neighbor, Everglades National Park. While they’re close to each other, Biscayne receives far fewer visitors and is a totally different experience.

West Virginia really surprised me. I really knew nothing about West Virginia before going there.

Those things were Mothman, a landlocked lighthouse, Hillbilly Elegy (which is actually Ohio and I didn’t know that until a couple months later, check out this book, too), and I think that’s it.

Looking for the best things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park besides hiking?

Welcome back! Today we have another Things to do that aren’t hiking in the parks post. This time were going to Cuyahoga Valley in good ol’ Ohio.

While this park didn’t blow me out of the water (except the Ledges, that I loved) there are still tons of great things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park that aren’t hiking.

LOOKING FOR THE BEST WAY TO SPEND ONE DAY IN CUYAHOGA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK?

One thing that surprised me on our fall road trip was Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It’s not my favorite park by a long shot but it did exceed my expectations and it should definitely not be skipped on a midwest road trip.

LOOKING TO HIKE THE BLUE HEN FALLS TRAIL?

Would it even be a national park trip if I planned ahead at all? Cuyahoga Valley was no different and I was a little overwhelmed when it came to knowing what to do. This is a park that definitely needs at least a little planning ahead.

Like usual though, we started our trip at the visitor center. This made our next move easy. The Blue Hen Falls trail was just across the street so off we went!

We almost didn’t go to Big Bend in March on our trip out to Utah from Florida. It’s pretty far from everything and quite literally in the middle of nowhere.

I knew I wanted to go to Guadalupe Mountains National Park since that was a lot more on the way. I mean, it’s like 35 minutes from Carlsbad Caverns, after all.

Well here we are. In October. Writing about stuff from March. One of the things we ended up doing on our drive to Utah (and have wanted to do for years) is visit White Sands National Park!

This is a southwest bucket list and general national park bucket list topper, for sure. I would say it’s on most peoples whether they know it or not and if it’s not on yours yet, it will be now!
