18 Pictures Of Interstate State Park In Fall That Will Put This Wisconsin Park On Your Radar

One of the things I always say I’m going to do every year is to see more stuff around home when we visit. I’m usually really bad about this, like this year I’ve seen nothing. But last fall I went to Interstate State Park and Franconia Sculpture Park with my parents one day!

I knew as soon as I knew I was visiting Florida in January, specifically a little South Florida road trip, that I wanted to go to Myakka State Park by Naples specifically to find this bottlecap covered Geocache.  Is that weird?  I don’t even care.  It’s the coolest I’ve found so far, for sure.

I love beaches.  It’s no secret.  They are the one thing I really want to see more of.  Well, and the springs.  But this is about beaches.  During both of my trips to St. Augustine, I went to Anastasia State Park and both were entirely different experiences.

We did the Fakahatchee boardwalk, officially known as the Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk, last year, too and really liked it.

This time though, we got to see the CUTEST baby gators ever. Ok, second cutest because the first was in Corkscrew Swamp.  But these were adorable and I love them.

I loved the Cathedral Spires Trail in the Black Hills.  Like, I loved it so much.  This was such a cool hike and the area is so unique.

It’s a trail that takes you up into these rocky spires and we just happened to have the whole thing to ourselves.  It’s pretty tough to beat that.

Well, we’re finally back to my South Dakota trip from.. October.  Today we’re looking back at the Sylvan Lake Loop Trail which is one of the best stops along the Needles Highway in the Black Hills.

One of the hikes I knew I wanted to do was the Sylvan Lake Loop Trail, which is an easy 1.6-mile loop around Sylvan Lake.

One of the first things we did when we got to the Black Hills in South Dakota was head to the Custer State Park Wildlife Loop Road, well, right after visiting Wind Cave National Park.  At first, I really didn’t get the hype, especially with tons of people saying it should be a national park.  It wasn’t bad, but I definitely didn’t get it.

Edge of the Cedars State Park is kind of like the Anasazi State Park Museum in Boulder, but bigger.  I remember every time we drove past the sign for it I just thought well, that looks like a terrible state park because I had no idea what it was and I’ll be real, the landscape in that area isn’t the best.

But then I read Finders Keepers and I had to go.  So when my parents came to visit and we had a day of ruins plan, I figured this was the perfect addition to the day.  As usual, you can always skip down to the bottom for more of the how-to info.

The more time I spend in Gainesville, the more I want to get out and see the area.  One of my favorite things to do in Gainesville so far is hike La Chua Trail.  I did a post about it after my first visit, but I’ve gone back two more times since then.  The first time I was able to hike the whole trail, but the last two times the section of the trail after the boardwalk was flooded.

Anasazi State Park Museum: A Trip Back In Time In Boulder, Utah

After driving past the Anasazi State Park Museum in Boulder, Utah probably 5+ times a summer, last year I finally decided it was time to visit.  I had recently read Finders Keepers and I became slightly obsessed with seeing ruins and anything related to them.  The Anasazi Museum sometimes called the Anasazi Indian Village is on the edge of Boulder and great to visit on your way through from Capitol Reef.

One of the things I’ve wanted to do since my first summer in Bullfrog is to visit Valley of the Gods.  Well, it was one of the first things I did once I got here for the season.  Off we went on a cold, windy, and cloudy day in April for what I had very high expectation of.

I think my favorite stop on our South Florida road trip was the Fakahatchee Hilton.  I bet you’re picturing a five-star resort on the beach with unlimited drinks and the best view in the state.

Well, it’s the exact opposite of that.  It’s a little shack in the middle of the swamp at the Fakahatchee Strand State Park and Preserve.  It does have a waterfront view, though.

I’ve wanted to visit more state parks over the last few years, not just in Utah, but everywhere.  Florida has some of the best state parks and I think that’s how this started.

Rocky Fork State Park in Tennessee was my next top on my state park quest and quickly became a favorite. I even went back in the fall of 2020!
