Hey there!  I’m Megan and this story starts with little me and my red cowboy boots in Tennessee. 

That was my first big trip, going down to Georgia from Wisconsin, where I’m from.  I went on a few more family trips in the US, then took my first trip abroad to Germany in high school with my German class.

I don’t think I really noticed how much I liked traveling or didn’t really pay much attention to it when I was growing up, but looking back there are at least two things that were probably signs.

1. In first grade, I played soccer and got a soccer ball with flags of the world on it instead of a regular black and white one.
2. I tended to pick classes that involved travel or I knew would take trips.  I stayed in choir to go to New York, then dropped it the next year.  I took German for five years to go on the trip since they went every other year (alternating with the Spanish class) and you had to be in a certain level to go at all.  Then in college, I took two photography classes during winter break study abroad, instead of full semesters, to New Zealand then Ecuador and the Galapagos.

I thought I knew what I wanted to do once I got to college but I changed my major three times and never expected it to be what it was.

I ended up graduating with a degree in Professional Communication and Emerging Media with a focus on journalism, art, and photography, and a business minor.

I always hated writing, but it turns out I like it a lot when I can write about whatever I want in a nonacademic setting. Who knew.

After a terrible blog or two that thankfully don’t exist anymore, I finally found a name I liked, and here we are today. 

While it may have started to mostly share pictures and some pretty useless information, it’s evolved (and still is) to actually being helpful with even better pictures.

Within a month of graduation I went on my first solo trip to Central America, then to Asia the next winter, and for the next six years I worked seasonally at Lake Powell and drove across the country at least three times a year.

Now I call Florida home (for now) and will continue exploring the US, just a different side of it. Southern Utah is still one of my favorite places on Earth but I can’t wait to see more of the eastern US.
