Hiking Tasman Valley in New Zealand

So, I can’t really pick a favorite part of New Zealand.  If you’ve been there, you’ll know what I mean.  It’s all just great.  But I do know that I liked this place a lot.  Tasman Valley.  I mean, look at this.  I don’t think I could tell you where this is, like where we started to get here, because it was a long time ago and I don’t think I was paying that much attention at the time.

But I do know it was a small hike up from where we started and was insanely worth it.  Always take the small hike up.  It’s almost always worth it.  In this case, it was.  There was a lake about halfway up that we stopped at and almost didn’t keep going.  How terrible would that have been!

This was the halfway point where it was a rocky path up from there.  I still can’t believe we almost stopped there.  I don’t have as much to say about this as I would like because not much can do it justice other than being there, but the pictures will have to do until you can see it for yourself!  Once you were at the top, the valley was to the right for one spectacular view and the lake was to the left but still in front of you for the other spectacular view.

There were small icebergs in the water up here and the water is direct from the glaciers around here.  We were surrounded by mountains, a perfect sky with just the right amount of clouds, and glacial water for days.  Well, we weren’t up there for days, maybe an hour, but there was a lot of water.  I probably could have stayed up here all day just hanging out and looking around.  The temperature was perfect and it wasn’t too busy.

Have you been to New Zealand?  What was your favorite part?
