Tulum was the second ruin site I visited on my trip, also in Mexico, and they were totally different than Coba.  These were all open and oceanfront.  I have to say, I liked Coba better.  It felt a lot more adventurous.  BUT I saw way more wildlife at Tulum.  And by way more, I mean there were lizards everywhere.  But guess what?  I’m a horrible animal spotter.

Climbing Coba Ruins: A Perfect Cancun Day Trip

When I got to Mexico I didn’t really know what to do in Cancun.  Like at all.  I knew there were beaches and Chichen Itza, but not much else.  I decided to skip Chichen Itza because it looked so busy and not as rugged, then I found out about Coba and went with a couple other people from my hostel.  We decided to rent a car and go on our own, which was actually pretty easy.

Cahal Pech Ruins San Ignacio Belize

Climb The Cahal Pech Ruins In San Ignacio, Belize

As I (sort of ) promised, I’m sharing more of my little time in Belize.  I’ll start with Cahal Pech, the ruins right outside of, or still part of, San Ignacio.  These are smaller and seemed much less traveled than most other ruins I had heard about up to this point.

Luckily for me, they were within walking distance from the hostel in town.  I was prepared for a casual walk, not three huge, steady hills.  Good news, I survived.  One thing I loved about it was that we could still climb them and look around from the top.  Safe?  Eh.  Super cool?  Yeah.
