Way back in 2016 on my drive out to Utah for my first summer in Bullfrog, my friend and I did a Lower Antelope Canyon tour. It was beautiful but it was a zoo.

One of the things that has been on my Utah bucket list for years is the Buckskin Gulch hike: the longest slot canyon in the world at 21 miles long. Or at least that we know about. Well, I still haven’t done it.

Ahh slot canyons. I love them and got to see another new one in the spring: Willis Creek slot canyon!

I think I found this one in the fall of 2019 as an option for when my parents were visiting, but saved it for later, which happened to be this spring.

Way back in 2016 some people invited me to hike Leprechaun Canyon with them. I worked 3-11 then so I couldn’t and I was bummed, but everyone made it sound so easy to find and do that we ended up going later that summer.

We show up. We hike. We don’t even think we were in the right spot. We go home. I actually ended up taking my parents there anyway just because what we did see was cool.

I’ve driven past the trailhead for Headquarters Canyon I don’t know how many times over the last three summers without doing the hike.  Well, I finally hiked Headquarters Canyon and it was so cool.  Plus, there was a Geocache tucked way back in there giving me even more reason to want to see it.

I think it might actually be impossible to get lost in Little Wild Horse Canyon unless you climbed up and wandered off the trail.  But I don’t know, I didn’t do that.  I didn’t even follow the whole trail.  Rounding out around 8 miles, we didn’t have time and the weather was not ideal for slot canyons.

Hike To The Fire Wave And Pastel Canyon In Valley of Fire State Park

The two things I wanted to see in Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada on our way to Vegas were the Fire Wave and Pastel Canyon.  The Fire Wave is rumored to be super cool, almost rivaling, and not to be confused with, The Wave in Arizona.  More on that later.  And Pastel Canyon is supposed to look a little bit like Easter threw up all over it.  It’s safe to say my expectations were high after taking a gander at good old Google images.
