This post will be similar to my latest O’leno State park post, mostly just to share pictures and random thoughts.
As opposed to the Sweetwater Wetlands trail down the road, this is a small trail system in the Sweetwater Woods.
We did a small part of it that connected to Hawthorn Trail, the bike trail that connects Gainesville and Hawthorne.
It was a nice trail in pretty typical Florida woods. There was a beautiful little creek running through here, too.
We saw plenty of ferns, palms, and pines, nothing else particularly notable though.
There were a few other people here but it was definitely not super busy. It’s a great place for a nice short hike, and it’s dog friendly!
Sometimes you do a hike and take a bunch of pictures but just don’t have much to say.
This is one of those but I still love sharing the pictures and whatever little snippets I think of.
These aren’t really helpful posts, but that’s ok. They’re still fun to put together and I hope you still enjoy them!
Like the other post, any commentary below will be for the picture above it.

The nice little creek running through the trail area. It’s pretty small but still beautiful.

I love this little palm cluster. It feels kind of like fireworks but as a plant.

If this is the same kind as we have in Wisconsin, I believe this is a cinnamon fern! I didn’t know at the time but I love seeing these.

We also got to see this quite.. notable waterfall into this gigantic pond!

As you get closer to the Hawthorne Trail, it opens up into more scrub land, which is also beautiful in an entirely different way.

I love these pine trees so much. Every time I see them I just think they look like giant green bottle brushes.

I have no idea where this was along the trail, but I like it! Pond, sinkhole, other, I’m not really sure.
