Imagine Museum: The St. Petersburg, Florida Glass Museum
I’ve been avoiding a few specific posts (museums) because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to do the posts. But I decided they’ll just be fun photo sharing posts.
The first of my museums is the Imagine Museum in St. Pete, Florida. This museum is all about glass art.
I wasn’t sure how much I would like it before we went but I ended up loving it! I didn’t really have any idea of the scope of glass art either.
I really just knew stained glass and blown glass, but this place was amazing! I would absolutely go back and would definitely recommend it for fans of art and/or museums.
I would plan to spend a couple of hours here, there’s quite a bit to see.
There was a little scavenger hunt and that was fun to work on as we made our way through. Some of the things to find were kind of hard but I enjoyed it.
As usual for this kind of post, a lot of the pictures will have random thoughts below them in the caption.
These two mannequins were right by the museum entrance. There was a Japanese display area that also included a bunch of very beautiful kimonos!I love Japanese art so much. The pottery, the printmaking, the kimonos and fabrics, and of course origami! Just the overall look and style is so beautiful.Like, look at that! And the one below this! They’re so beautiful! This is a close-up of a bowl vase thing. It actually looks like a feather texture, it’s so cool.I am a texture girlie and the textures in this place were 10/10. Amazing. Choosing a cover photo for this post was not easy.Fantastic. That’s all. That’s glass! What even is it, it’s so cool! How do people do these things!?The textureeeee!Come on, this is so cool! I already do stained glass (which I LOVE) but I really need to broaden my glass art skills. Fused glass is next!Does this not look exactly like a painting? It’s glass! Truly impressive.I love the colors of this so much. Could you imagine that in the sun!?The colors! The textures! The detail!I also love this one so muchI can’t even start to guess how you might get something to do this. This was another one of my favorite pieces. It’s so beautiful. This one is totally different than all of my other favorites, but it’s so cool! This would be an extremely cool lamp, particularly in a slightly smaller scale.Love me a couple of weird aliens.Again, the texture is top notch here. This reminds me of the lights in lighthouses, which I also love. This was also one of my favorite pieces. I love the repetition and the colors in this so much.
Have you been to the Imagine Museum in St. Pete? What did you think of it? Which one was your favorite? Do you do glass art? What kind? I want to hear all about it!
